I remember stories from my grandmother. Back when checks weren't pre-printed, Grandpa would borrow someone else's checks and write them against his account but wouldn't tell Grandma so she never had any idea of what was written against the account. And this was long before the days of online banking. This would just drive her nutty and she would chew him to pieces. I let DH balance the check book as he is a CPA. The checkbook he physically carries with him so if I want to write a check for some reason I have to take one. Otherwise I usually use the debitcard and because the checkbook is in his briefcase I never write them in and then get yelled at!!!
