I mean he loved to sleep on my head from the day he was born winding in my hair but I have noticed he sometimes purr and salivate, showing and hiding his claws...Why is he doing this???
Check his mouth to make sure his teeth and gums are fine - no yellow build up on the teeth or redness at the gum line. This can make a cat drool, make normal drooling worse, and make kitty breath smell awful.
Otherwise some cats just do that when they're very happy and content. Your cat is kneading with his paws - kittens do this with their mothers to get milk from the teat. Why this behavior remains in adult cats, no one really knows but it gives them pleasure to do it.
Drooling is just what some cats do during this.
Sounds like my Presley. He purrs, kneads and tries to nurse on my neck and slobbers. As he is getting older (eight months) he is starting to give up on the neck nursing, thank goodness....
