Why can I edit some of my posts after posting, but not others?

My apologies if this is documented somewhere or has been answered before, but I searched the help section and did not yet find an answer.

I'm just wondering why, after I make a post, there is an "edit" button only some of the time? Is it based on a time limit, or content of the post?

Yes, it is based on a time limit. I believe you can edit for two hours after the post was submitted.
