i really don't like that kind of packaging. while i'm struggling (and cursing out loud) to get the packaging open and trying to avoid getting scratched or cut, i'm also grumbling to myself about how the packaging is like fort frickin knox.
the best way i've found to get that kind of packaging open is to use scissors and trim all around the edges about 1/2 inch in.
I hate that packaging, too, and usually end up taking a sharp pair of kitchen shears and cutting through it that way. Frustrating.
Last week after I was done canning peaches and was cleaning up my mess in the kitchen, I threw my paring knife into a bowl of soapy water. Forgot the knife was in there and put my hand in to wash some dishes and stuck the end of the paring knife under the nail of my right index finger. I pulled the knife out from under my fingernail and it started to bleed like crazy. I got a cloth and some ice and wrapped that around my finger as best I could, but it did nothing to stop the bleeding. Kept holding the nail down. Nothing. So I just bandaged it as best I could. It finally did stop, but it was an ugly mess for a few days. So far, I haven't lost the nail.
Ooooo I hate those!! I remember back in high school they banned us from opening those in the building. They used to do group orders for graphing calculators and they all came in those packages. I use the biggest scissors I have around. The problem with that is they occasionally package the instructions wrong and I've cut those too!
I also hate that kind of packaging! Even with scissors it's hard to cut through. I tried the utility knife once and nearly severed a finger too, so now I only use scissors.
I've also asked the store a few times to open the package for me before I leave.
