LOL I can do that at home, but not on a small phone in the store. I would be there forever trying to look up on my little phone. My old bad eyes make everything so much more difficult! I didn't realize how great good eyes were, when I had them
I do too. Little phones are no easier for me to read than cat food cans.

Here is an idea for pet food companies to consider: Print all of the information on a sheet of paper and put it at the bottom of each case for mail orders.

that would be a good thing. If a cat food company would realize we consumers actually want information. lots of valid information about the protein, carbs, fats and other ingredients in their products, where they are sourced, safety information, REAL information about their products, Not just pretty labels and fluff words like 'all natural' and such, that would be a company i would buy from.

I think companies should research how many customers actually try to read the list of ingredients that is printed in a size 4 font.

:yeah: It would almost be like they had nothing to hide :ruminating: ...

I must say I was impressed / kind of scared of Life's Abundance. When I bought a sample can, a customer service representative emailed me and said he was assigned to my account if I needed anything. For a <$5 purchase if you include shipping. Doesn't mean they are angels or anything, but it made me feel special. :goldstar:

I think some companies are happy to make the ingredients unreadable.

LOL The problem with that idea is they use terms like "meat byproducts" to hide an evil ingredient or one that would be repulsive. If they deliberately make the text tiny to make it unreadable, why would companies go out of their way hiding what some of the ingredients are?

I think it's both. Some are happy the labels are unreadable and/or make the "meat by-products" mysterious yet good-sounding. "Meat" sounds pretty good to pet parents who don't do research or visit this website.

So I'm surprised, but Nutro is not BPA-free. Here is their response:

"Thanks for contacting us.

Pets are family members - we love our pets as much as you do! So the quality of our pet foods is our top priority. All Mars Petcare foods are designed to be safe, nutritious and enjoyable.

We understand your concern about packaging that contains BPA, because there has been a lot reported in the media about it. It's important to know, however, that there are no scientific reports proving that BPA in packaging leads to adverse effects in dogs or cats. The U.S. FDA has said that current approved uses of BPA in food packaging are safe.

Our products not only meet or exceed required government standards for food quality and safety. We also apply our own high Mars standards to make sure we never serve anything to your pet that we wouldn't give to our own.

Please reach out if you'd like to discuss this further. We are always happy to talk with our consumers and hear about your pets.

I hope you have a great day.

Sincerely,

Melinda

Instinct is BPA-free:

"Thank you for reaching out to us! Our cans are BPA free. The interior can coating is a double coat acrylic coating. The can end interior coating is a laminate material.

Thank you,

Huh, Nutro was disappointing. I looked at a few pet food company websites, and Dr Elsey's and Hound & Gatos webistes say their cans are BPA free under FAQ. Lotus says BPA free on their cans (at least the 3oz ones).

I tried googling yesterday to find any scientific study on it. I did find a paper saying that BPA was not harmful, but it was co-written by someone from the Nestle company which owns a lot of pet food companies so I discounted it as biased.

The search continues!
