Okay so I want to cut my cats hair for the summer but I need to ask if its a good thing to do. A friend of mine cut their dogs hair and learned after the fact that that particular type of dog you're not supposed to cut because of how it grows. Then I realized that my cats fur is soft and silky, not the normal poofy I usually see in long hair cats. So is it okay to cut silky fur? Anyone had any haircuts go bad?

Cat's hair does not need to be cut.  It isn't something you ever do unless there is a medical need.

Cats and dogs are very different in this regard.. some dogs must be clipped, but cats, no.

Your cat will love you madly if you brush him/her, though..  They just love to be groomed, and it really helps to bond with them.
