I recently adopted an adult cat from a shelter and I'm still figuring out the right schedule for him. Everyone says that cats love routine so I feed and play with him at fixed times. Our schedule goes something like this: I leave a bowl of food in the floor at nights so at about 5 in the morning he has a snack. And then my father wakes up and gets ready to leave for work at 5:30. From then until 6 at which point my father leaves and I wake up, Hypy walks around meowing and trying to trip my father. Then he tries to trip me as I make my bed and do other stuff. I play with him at about 7 until 7:30 and then he sits around grooming himself or follows me as I clean his litter box, clean his water bowls, dust off his fur from his various 'beds'. Then at 8:30 or 9 we have a short play session before I feed him. Then he lies around and watches as all of us do our stuff like showering, having breakfast and stuff like that. A couple of weeks ago he used to spend this time in the balcony watching the squirrels. Now he stays inside and if I have time I groom him and pet him. At 12 we have another play session and he has his lunch. Then he retreats to one of his sleeping spots until 5 or 5:30 in the evening. In the evening we have a play session and he gets his wet food. Afterwards he grooms himself and sits in a half asleep state. He has another snack at 8:30 and then if I haven't groomed him in The morning, I do so. If not I pet him and talk to him. He becomes active again at around 9:30 and watches or follows me as I do stuff like working at my computer or eating. At 11 I spend some more time with him before having another play session and feeding him the last meal of the day. Then he falls asleep at around 12. This is our schedule. Sometimes I wonder if it's good enough and he's getting enough enrichment and doesn't become bored. Do you think my cat is lazy?
I wanna know how your cats spend their time. Everything from how long they sit on the window perches to how long they spend with you.
