I am preparing to transition my nearly one-year old cat to adult food. When I adopted him at 5/6 months, he had been eating Blue Wilderness kitten (dry), but he continued to have diarrhea and horrible gas. When I eventually switched to Iams kitten formula (dry) that actually contains grains, the diarrhea was gone within a week. (The vet suggested that the level of protein in that particular formula was too rich for his tummy.) So, my question is: As I begin to transition him to adult food, which would be easier on his tummy -- a non-grain free formula specifically for sensitive stomachs, or a grain-free product such as Taste of the Wild? I really want to make his transition as smooth as possible because his poor little tummy can really get out of sorts.
(Just a note - I do also supplement his diet with wet food - 1.5 oz in the morning and 1.5 oz at bedtime. I also do not plan on feeding him raw. I've gotten some flack on various message boards for not wanting to feed raw, but that is just not an option for me. Thank you for your understanding and assistance!)
