My 5-6 month old has been thru the wringer . Came from a shelter 6 ago, appeared fine, then started running a low grade temp and picking at his food, not matter what I offered including tuna and chicken. He picks at his food and has not gained 1 oz in 6 weeks. Tried Covenia, no help, on doxy for 8 days,  no help. Tested negative for FELV, FIV, + corono virus, negative globbulins, neg abdominal ultrasound. I am going to take him to a specialist this weekend. Do I ask for internal med, infectious disease, ask for internal med and let them consult who they think? I must add I had a 9 week old barn rescue when we got Leonard and he is thriving but I fear he gave Lenonard  something that he has no symptoms for.

He feels the best for 6 hours after a fluid bolus and I think more importantly, an NSAID.

Do you have a Regular Vet??? They can refer you to an Internal Medicine Specialist.. I think that is the way to go.. Your Regular Vet can FAX all you kitty's records to them...

I am wishing you best of luck, and sending good wishes your way..

You do have to do something  to stabilize your kitty while they are waiting for the Specialst appointment.....

You have to work with your reg Vet on this....

I hate to say what I am thinking though... did you get him checked for FIP????? just a thought.. do not want to scare you.....

An Internal Medicine specialist would be where I would start...

Tried Cernia. No help.  Been to my regular vet 3 times and tested for everything.  I'm calling myself and making the appointment for internal med. You don't need a referral as long as you have a credit card, lol but I will have my vet send over records.

sending you good wishes and the best of luck.... ((Hugs)) yes, sending your records is a very important thing...and document everything...

Go in with a notebook and write down ALL your questions and all the things you have tried...
