What should i do?

I have a cat who is like a kid. He is constantly on my kitchen table or counters. I really dont want him there. He will also chew the garbage bag open. Ill hear him on the table or counter and go out to chase him down. He will come running in the living room. Ill go back to what i was doing, then next thing he will be back out in the kitchen doing the same thing. Ill jump up and chase him away again. My question is, any suggestions on how to get the point across he is not allowed on the tables or counters? He is so subborn and bullheaded and will not forget what he was doing. Its kinda funny when i think about it.

There are a lot of training aids you can buy to help keep your cat off the counters and table.
