I am sure that most of us work in a setting where we have to deal with people. In my case, working at Dominos... We have to deal with phones. There are a few things about ordering pizzas that most people don't know.
(This is HERE at the store I work at, I don't know about other stores) We have a caller ID system where we work. It doesn't always work, so sometimes we have to ask for a phone #. Today... OMG... This guy called, he would NOT give me his phone # he just kept telling me it was "IN THE DAMN PHONE BOOK" so I hung up on him after yelling at me like 5 times. He called back, and yelled at me again. We DO NOT have to look up a customer's phone #. We DO NOT have to take an order from a customer that refuses to give us a phone #. The reason we need it is for our driver's safety. What if they don't want us to have the # cuz they plan on jumping our driver and taking his/her $... My hubby is a driver.
Sometimes there is just one person working, during that time if we have pizzas that needs to be made, or taken out of the oven before they pile up on each other, we will put a phone on hold long enough to take care of them, wich shouldn't take more then a few minutes. The worst thing to do is hang up and call back. What happens then is the person will be put on hold again and again while the people who stayed on the line are helped. We work it on a longest on hold first served basis.
We also have very slow, old computers, and when a customer starts blurting out their order before we even get to verify the phone #(when the caller ID is working, or ask for the # if it isn't) and address, they end up repeating themselves and sometimes get angry.
It's very importent for us to verify the address cuz we want your pizza to go where you are
Once we have the address and phone # verified, we need to know what size, what kind of crust... then what toppings.
It's kinda funny when we get people who order their toppings before even letting us know what size pizza, the computers we use are set up in a certain order. We need to know the size, what kind of crust, what toppings, then if you want NO cheese, or extra sauce, or no sauce etc.
I had a not so great day at work today, and it's not like any of you will ever order from my store where I work, but maybe you will from others. Keep in mind that the people on the phones are people too (I know TCS-ers are always sweet, wonderful, kind and patient, I just have to get this off my chest
lol ) We have feelings, we don't like being called stupid, dumb, retarted, or any other name. If you let us ask the questions, and answer them, your phone experience with us will be fast. The faster the phone conversation is, the quicker we can get to making your pizza. Then it will be quicker getting to you
Remember, (I told a guy this today) You gotta be nice to us cuz we are the ones MAKING YOUR FOOD
LOL... (that is a joke, I NEVER EVER EVER would do anything bad to anyone's food, that is low down evil and dirty) that guy got his pizza a half hour late cuz he was rude very rude to me. He yelled at me, called me names, then wanted me to look up his phone # because he couldn't remember it... I didn't have to try to look it up, I could have refused him service. But... I wanted to feed the evil man, and I made his pizza very nice, and it was delivered fresh and hot. I told the guy his pizza would be there in about an hour and he said okay. In 45 minutes he called back wondering where it was. I calmly explained to him that we were rather busy (We actually were) and that his food was on its way. GRRRRRRRR Next time, I will REFUSE to look up anyone's phone # If they don't know it, they don't need pizza... This is the worst part, he told me his name was Dwayne... Then (the taxi driver called me the last time, gave me his #, and ordered his food for him) I found out his name was CARL... NO WONDER I COULDN"T find his # in the phone book. DUH!!! The guy didn't know his # or name. Turns out that Dwayne is his middle name. I think the guy had been drinking.
Thankyou, your pizza should be there within 30 to 45 minutes, have a nice day.
