what is the twine around some cat trees?

My husband wants to reuse a cat tree that's been outside for 2+ years. I want a new tree.
If we go the old route... It needs to be totally redone. I'd like to put the swine for their nails. What is it?

Sisal rope perhaps?  My cats love that stuff.

Yeah, what you're referring to is probably sisal - really common and pretty cheap too.

Thank you. Glad I asked! I want a new one. I think 12+ years owning the old one... One year of being outside... I think deserves a new one. Keep the outside one.... Outside for out side kitties.

Use a thick sturdy sisal rope. A hardware store should have various thicknesses and lengths of rope to choose from.
