The other day when it warmed up I saw this insect on our driveway. I thought it was a praying mantis. What do you think it is?

I think it's a Walking Stick Insect.

There are a few kinds of stick insects that mimic the form of a Preying Mantis in order to deter possible predators.

I don't know the name of that insect but I'm sure we could look it up.

I think it's a Walking Stick Insect.

After reading and looking up different mantids I discovered the Carolina mantis is the most common one in my state. It looks exactly like what I found on our driveway.
