What breed is my cat?

Our family has had this stray cat for over 6 years now, I was wondering what breed he is.. since I ever only called him a ginger cat

My cat looks a lot like that. I think its a Orange tabby tuxedo

red and white tabby in the tuxedo pattern. The tabby pattern not clearly visible, but I think he is a classic tabby.

Domestic Shorthair, no specific breed. Tabby is a pattern, not a breed. I would call his color/pattern red tabby and white.
What color are his eyes? If they're blue he might be a pointed cat whose color on the body has darkened with age.

thanks for responding! but his eyes are a greenish-yellow, and he is a pretty old cat I reckon.

Unlike dogs, the vast majority of cats are random bred and don't conform to a specific pedigree. This handsome fellow is what they call a domestic shorthair, a random bred cat with short fur.

His coloring is so cool! I love the dark patches - they're probably from the "marbled" look of a classic tabby. Very handsome boy.
