What brands do we like, and which do we dislike?

Oh no, not at all. I clean their bowl as soon as they finished eating. There's some days that they won't touch it and I put it in a trash. My husband thinks I spoiled them..lol.
Cats are supposed to be spoiled! That's why there are things called treats in my kitchen.

I like Nature's Variety, Weruva, Almo Nature, go!, wellness... I don't mind Natural Balance only because the.limited ingredient ones are the ones my crf cat will eat. I refuse to feed fancy feast or Purina because of the artificial colours and flavours, not to mention the 'naturaL flavour' which most likely is monosodium glutamate. I do t like rx foods but do feed Medi-cal's reduced protein and mature and hills g/d to my crf cat as he will eat it as part of his rotation.

Both of my cats would eat kibble forever as I would eat peanut or almond M&M's. But they both like canned thankfully. Emily if you go onto Dr. Pierson's website, casino.org, she has some tips on how to transition your cat to wet food.

My 15 year old manx breed male cat, when it comes to dry kibble, likes Blue Buffalo (Duck, Chicken) flavors and Nature's Variety Instinct (Chicken) flavor. In terms of wet canned food, he's picky. He likes all the new flavors of Blue Buffalo's "Feline Feast" and lucky for him and me, does not contain carrageenan.

Because Patricia is 16, I always buy Blue Buffalo's Healthy Aging formula (chicken flavor). For some reason she does not like the wet BB so I never have to worry about carrageenan, but your post makes me wonder if some BB cans do have it.

There are two blue products that I am aware of that contain no carrageenan. The rest do have carrageenan or contain a bunch of grains so I don't feed them anyways.
  • Blue Bistro
  • Blue Wilderness Wild Delights
And of course the new BB Feline Feast mentioned by Night Wing. I'll have to add that one to my rotation.

Somehow I missed the new "Wild Delights" flavors Blue Buffalo came out with. Since they contain no carrageenan, I'll have to purchase a can of Chicken & Turkey and see if my cat likes it.

I like whatever Woody likes. He is the one eating it, not me. I want him to be happy. The most expensive cat food in the world is not worth it, if the cat doesn't like it. There are so many opinions on this subject in this site, that a person could go crazy.

I can't say I agree with that statement. If my child like chips and soda and hates vegetables I am not going to feed only that to make him happy, no way! We are not trying to make ourselves or anyone crazy we are trying to figure out whats best for our cats to eat that minimizes illnesses and makes them THRIVE using critical thinking and exploring various options. No different than what I would do for myself when it comes to eating right, but the main difference between us and cats is that WE chose for them, and as responsible pet owners its up to us to make the best possible decisions for them.

I have had reasonable luck with RAD CAT which comes from Oregon so I may be a West Coast thing but it is a balanced Frozen Raw Diet in 3 varieties: free range chicken, turkey, and lamb.  The lamb is a bit fatty so I will not rotate that in as frequently.  Cats seem to enjoy it but who knows what tomorrow will bring.  Sometimes they catch a rodent or bird and not eat one bit and other times they leave very little.

My cat loves Trader Joes own brand of canned cat food, Petsmarts & Petco house brands, EVO & Innova canned, Wellness & Natural balance pouches. I used to use only grain-free canned, but have softened my opinions a bit & now my cat enjoys a much wider selection of canned/pouched food.

I used to use Blue Buffalo, but it has two different sizes kibble. And I have enough trouble with Woody gulping down the kibble. He even trys to gulp the Nutro Max. I do like Nutro though. His coat is thick, soft and not a lot of stool in litter box. I am getting him a slow feeder bowl to slow him down. Try Nutro, it is a good food.

Repeat after me: KIBBLES ARE BAD FOR CATS. Some cats refuse to eat anything else, but any cat who is willing and able to eat wet foods, regardless of age and health, should only eat wet and/or raw food wit no plant-based ingredients.

Et tu Emily, as I recall your cat is on dry also.

Kibbles are bad for cats, but this could have been stated in another way.

My cats aren't too picky. I did cook them some chicken livers the other day. To my surprise, they did not like them. They get treats quite often. A vet once told me they don't need treats. My response was that it hasn't seemed to hurt anything. The same vet also told me my oldest cat was over weight. She fluctuates between 8 and 8.5 pounds. I didn't go back to him. He didn't seem to know what he was talking about.

My cat loves anything.  Seriously, any brand any flavor, pet food, people food, food in general.  I have fed lots of different foods over the years, I love Nature's Variety raw patties, Honest Kitchen (love this one so much), Go!, Wellness, Acana, but always end up feeding Chicken Soup due to my location.  I was ordering other foods online for awhile but it worked out better for me to be able to pick up food locally and I don't really feel comfortable feeding grocery store food so feed stores are my selection.  In general I don't feel comfortable with Diamond products, but mine seems to do really well on Chicken Soup.

You can try to soak the food in some warm water shortly before feeding it to him so he doesn't choke.

My animals eat immediately, food doesn't sit around in enough time to breed bacteria.

Mike, my Woody has been on Nutro Max Indoor for over a year. I did have to buy a slow feeder bowl to slow him down. He would gulp it down, after biting the kibble in half, and then sometimes would throw it back up. I didn't want to change his food so I bought the slow feeder bowl. He hates it because he can't gulp down his food. Oh well he will get used to it. I will continue to use the Nutro dry food.
