I love Opera, even though the latest version has a tendency to crash. The widgets are a terrific help. Here are the ones I have, and generally use regularly:
touchtheSky
GoogleToolBar
Calendar
Bittorrent.com
BBC News Reader
Wikipedia widget
Wikipedia widget
New York Times
heute.de
World Clock - cities
Font Search
Unit Converter
Google query builder
GSearch
LEO Widget
CNN Top News Stories
Google News
Calculator Widget
IP Address
Stern.de
'business'news
PaxKel Rss Scroller
Currency Converter
Reference.com
Font Colorgradient
Google Translator
Font Search

Firefox is good, too, but much slower than Opera. What add-ons do you use for it?

I took a lot of my add-ons off as I wasn't using them and they were slowing firefox down

My favourites are
Email Notifier
Coloured Tabs
GSearch
IM Translator
PDF Download Options
Colourwheel picker
IE Tab
BBCode Extra

I also have iGoogle as my homepage which has a calendar, reference.com search box, wikipedia search box, local news from newspapers I chose to get updates from, Date & Time, Weather, a radio tuner, google maps, babelfish translator, and a calculator

I'm using the colorful tabs, adblock ( both very useful), and the speed dial feature (good, but Opera's is better). The IE tab is great - I can actually check out username glows, shadows, etc. - thanks for the tip!

For Firefox, I like the Shazou and NoScript extensions -- a useful tool and a useful protection when checking dubious websites.

Shazou is really cool! I'll have to see how NoScript works.

You can also click the Add-ons - Extensions icon (a puzzle piece) in the sidebar, and then the little cog wheel shown there. In the drop-down menu, you'll find "Firefox Add-ons".

Another great Firefox add-on: FoxClocks. Tab Scope is also good - it makes Firefox a little more similar to Opera.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I'm so thrilled with a Firefox add-on I'm using right now. It's called Zotero, and is terrific for anybody doing any kind of research on the web, as it makes it so simple to organize articles. It records the sources, takes and stores screenshots, and allows you to add notes.

Another useful one is AutoPager when you're reading long articles (or searching through multi-page threads at TCS).

i use Firefox at school, but have very few add-ons.... going to look into the colortabs, tho. the only thing i have on it is a skin - Red Cats [green flavor].
at home [on the Mac], i have Safari, Firefox & Camino - but i use Camino the most.
