I am running out of ideas.

A good holiday craft for kids is making miniature Christmas trees by covering an inverted ice cream cone with green frosting and sticking on candies.

For Christmas you can buy a box of candycanes (whatever flavor) and if you put the two hooked ends together, they make a heart... You can tape them this way and use them as ornaments for the tree
OR, take paperplates and draw faces on them like Santa and glue cottonballs on it for the beard.
Something that goes over well in my house is Snowman poopYou can simply put cottonballs in a ziplock bag, or marshmellows... of course, I have two demented lil boysso they get a kick out of it.(tootsie rolls can be pulled apart and rolled into balls and it's reindeer poop as well)
Candycanes and pipe cleaners make reindeer also. Just wrap them about halfway up the curved end and thats the antlers. Glue black craft pompoms to the end and it's the nose.
Plain white paper can be folded and cut into snowflakes... and they have confetti too
For Halloween a simple plain paperplate can become a mask with a little bit of creative coloring and some yarn.
Black pipe cleaners can be shaped into spiders.
I have a soon to be 5yr old and he LOVES to do this stuff!
Thanks yeah keep me in mind if you come up with some more idea that would help me alot thanksOriginally Posted by maddensmom
My favorite one for thanksgiving is to make a turkey out of the childs handprint. Make a paint handprint on a piece of paper and then when it dries let the child glue things like leaves (or whatever else they choose) for the feathers and draw a face and beak on the nose! Voila! A turkey!!
I have plenty more (I used to be a preschool teacher, but many of them are too complicated for me to type out...If I think of some more simple ones I'll let you know!
Check out Good Housekeeping Magazine, they always have neat little craft Ideas in there too!
Thanks them are some great ideas thanks yeah i like the idea about decorating the bulbs. We have done the plaster it was alot of fun we made hand and feet prints though so it might be nice to do a hoilday one too.Originally Posted by SarahBeez
I don't know if this is age appropriate but based on the other posts I think it would be ok... I have no clue how old I was...
But I have some things I made from when I was little...
If you have a dog you could use some little doggy treat bone things and glue some googly eyes, pipecleaner antlers, & a nose on to make a reindeer. Mine is probably about 20 years old now and it looks like he has leprosy but it still makes an appearance at X-mas time!
You could also take some pictures of them and give them some construction paper to make a little frame for the picture- to hang on the tree...
What about buying plain bulbs and some little decorations (like stickers, sequins, glitter, etc) to attach with glue. Could be messy though...
For Halloween- I think I was in first grade... we made spiders out of plaster of paris (is that right? I don't know what it's called!) and pipe cleaners. I think you could make a mold to pour the stuff in and then just stick the legs in before it dries... then we painted it black & gave it some eyes. Still have that too!
In first grade we also made a skeleton out of styrofoam peanuts. Our teacher had made copies of a skull, the collar bone, hands, pelvis, and feet and we cut them out. Then used fishing line to string the peanuts on and tied it to the right pieces to make a skeleton...
I don't know if my ideas are any good... they may be too messy or not age appropriate but it's all I could think of!
I'm sure if you helped- which I'm guessing you are planning on helping- they could at least do some of them!
