Hi everyone, just an update on Boots, Kramer and me for those of you who are bored. :lol3:
I know I haven't posted in quite some time. Maybe a week and a half. We're back at my parents' place for Christmas break. The drive back was fine, except I got a $241 speeding ticket. There goes a good chunk of my Christmas money.
The cats have MOSTLY been doing fine with Bear, like they were over Thanksgiving break. But... there was an unfortunate incident... I wasn't home at the time, so I heard about it from my mom.
Kramer REALLY doesn't like Bear, the 90 lb. Labrador puppy, and mainly stays well out of his way. Bear is a sweet dog, and my stepdad has trained him well, but he's very curious and exuberant, in addition to being unneutered. I wouldn't say he has a high prey drive, but we definitely saw with Kramer that he can snap into his instinctual "kill the small animal" mode when something makes him mad.
Apparently, Kramer was walking from one room to the other, and Bear got up to follow him, getting up right behind him and sniffing his rear end. Kramer didn't like it, and turned around to bop Bear on the nose and hiss at him. Bear did NOT like this, and took Kramer into his mouth and shook him briefly, until Kramer curled around his muzzle and clawed and bit the crap out of him. Bear immediately dropped him and Kramer ran off.
Kramer is fine, but scared. No puncture wounds from the bite, and he doesn't seem to be walking or acting differently like he's in pain, so I don't think Bear caused any internal damage either. It really scared Kramer, and according to my mom he sat behind the coffee pot shaking for an hour. He's eating fine and everything now. The only difference I notice is that he spends more time on top of the washing machine, up high where Bear can't walk.
So aside from that little episode, everything is okay here. Boots has taken to following me around and chirping when he walks up and down the stairs. :lol3:
Anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas/holiday of choice
