I know that job hunting is bizarre and through the looking glass etc, however I had a really weird experience with it lately,is this weird, or is it me?
I interviewed for a job recently. I felt I did well, was qualified etc. Wasn't wowed by the job, however I thought it went well and had a nice feeling about the group I interviewed with. They told me they had a pretty tight time line and would decide within a week or so. When I get home Fri and there is a message to call the guy back "As soon as possible". Well of course I assume it's likely an offer. So since i had some misgivings I sat and thought about it, talked to friends, figured out what offer I would accept, I mean it took a lot of my weekend! and Decided yes if it was an offer, I would take it! Even revved up my engines about it. Had to leave a message Monday morning since I got their machine, rushed back home from a morning meeting (I still have my other job!) to call from a quiet place in the afternoon! Turns out...no, he was "just calling to say I wasn't chosen for the position". I found it so bizarre. I mean I have done alittle bit of hiring over the years and we only call for offers, always write letters (or now emails too) for rejections. I really would not have thought it was an offer except for the call "as soon as possible"and the timing. It was so weird too cause at first I coudln't hear him, and I thought he did say he WAS offering and so I said something like "oh good can i come in to talk to you more about it" and so there was a moment of confusion. Almost slap stick comedy moment. Anwyays, well my initial misgivings about the fit for me were probably right. But still it's so weird! I think you shouldn't call applicants and leave messages unless it's an offer.
So I dive back in!!!!
