Hello all,

I just come across this weird hole like thing on her neck after removing her collar. I managed to get a couple photos, they aren’t the best but you can slightly see what it is. Can anyone inform or advise me on what it is, and if care is needed?
She is an outdoor cat if that helps.

Many thanks

Hi, and welcome to TCS :hithere::welcomesign:

It's very hard to tell from a picture, but my best guess would be some sort of abscess, maybe partially drained (hence the hole). A vet visit is the best option. In the meantime, cleaning it with warm salty water and cotton wool shouldn't do any harm. Leave the collar off for now, and keep her inside until she's seen a vet. It looks fairly minor right now, but infections can escalate in cats very quickly.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Warble. Botfly larvae inside. Its really gross. Take her to the vet and he will remove the larvae.
:yeah: Of course! How could I miss that?!

Definitely get her to the vet. Botfly larvae are nasty things :cringe: The sooner she gets them removed, the better.
