DH had a 12 year-old Jeep Wrangler, which he LOVED, but was starting to have problems. It was the car he had when I met him on the dating service. He emailed me pix of his 2 favorite things: his Jeep and his cat, Jasmine (that last one made me LIKE him right off the bat!). Alas, Jazzy died 2 years ago, and now his Jeep has gone away, too...but I think he made the right decision. The Jeep still had decent trade-in value at this point.
He bought a beautiful, cherry-red Jeep Liberty! I love it. We finally have backseats and more room to haul stuff, like 9 cat carriers. It rides so smoothly, unlike the Wrangler (which I called "The Rattle-Trap"). The leather seats have lumbar adjustment, which is lovely with my bad back (which I injured again last night). And the a/c works! His a/c died last summer, and it's been so beastly hot here recently (my car's a/c is on the fritz, as well). I even took a spin in it, thinking it would be hard for me to drive--but it wasn't.
The neighbors who drove by actually stopped to tell us how much they liked it, which was funny.
Now, 2 of the cats may have issues with this car. DH stored the backseat in the garage rafters, and Nixie and his main squeeze, Rosalie, used to have their love nest up there, on the seat. You wouldn't believe the amount of fur we had to brush off the thing! However, I think our hummingbirds will like it--it's red, as is my car. I once had a hummingbird fly out of the tree next to the driveway when I was getting out of my car; I'm a red-head, and had a red shirt on. The bird actually hovered about 3 feet away, checking the car and I out!
I guess my car will be next, as it's 13 years-old. I'll probably end up with a cheap, used car, though.
