We have 100 foot palm trees and I am scared they will come down.
The top parts of the trees are falling off and hitting our house.
We are getting hit hard right now and have had rain since sun.

Additional Rainfall Today May Result In Flooding Of Small Streams
And Creeks...Highway Underpasses...And Low Lying Areas.
Rainfall From The Storms This Week Has Saturated The Soil...And
Numerous Small Streams And Creeks Are Near Bankful Over Much
Of The Interior Of Northern California.

High Wind Warning Remains In Effect Until 6 PM PST This
Evening.

• Timing: Winds Will Continue To Increase And Become Very Strong
This Morning. The Strongest Winds Will Occur Between 10 AM And 2
PM. Winds Will Slowly Subside Later This Afternoon And Should
Decrease To 20 To 30 Mph After 6 PM.

• Winds: Will Increase To 25 To 45 Mph By 10 AM. Gusts To 60 Mph
Are Possible Between 10 AM And 2 PM. The Strongest Winds Are
Likely To Be Along Ridges And Near Foothills.

• Impacts: Potential Problems With Local Power Outages...Downed
Trees And Tree Limbs. Difficulty Driving High Profile Vehicles.

Thanks Everyone,
The palm branches keep coming down.
We have 3 palm trees in our front yard.
They say they can withstand hurricanes but you never know.

It's been raining here all day, with high winds earlier. It's calm now, and the rain has stopped, but looks like it could start again at any moment. Dusty is snuggled inside. She decided she wants no part of the storms! Don't blame her at all.

Yep palm tree bits are all over the streets here in Long Beach too.. I spent a few hours today at my old work helping them go through boxes of papers and reports that got wet when the office got flooded yesterday. They have to have the carpet ripped out and god knows what else. No good. However, they didn't get it as bad as some places only a few blocks away: http://www.lbreport.com/news/jan10/tornado2.htm

On a lighter note, I live on the 10th floor so I better not get flooded!!!

Take care fellow Californians..

Over the river and through the woods...
Ummm...I'm not sure what kind of palm trees you have, but I do know that coconut trees don't stand up well to a full blown hurricane, although they could handle tropical storms pretty well. But then again, most of the trees that were uprooted in the hurricane (typhoon...Guam) were only about 6-7 years old (because of the last typhoon) and not anywhere near 100ft. I'm not an expert on palm trees by any means, but they do have shallow roots. They could withstand strong winds until they reached about 100-120 mph sustained winds. They didn't snap, the roots just came out, but I'm sure that's much higher winds than what you are dealing with right now. So, I'm sure your's are going to be fine but you will have a ton of palm fronds laying around.

Stay safe...it's just a weird year for weather....

We are having high winds and rain here too. I think all of California is getting hit. One section of the parking lot at work was flooded. One of my friends parked there! Once she got her car out, the inside floor boards were soaked. We in the valley are not used to such rain!! It has been so dry for the past few years.
