My sasha loves the water... She will jump in if you let her! Shes always playing in the bath tub even when its empty .. She will sit on the edge of tge sink when i do dishes and bat at the water. anyone else have water loving kitties?
Hi, I have a Sasha who loves water too!, she likes to catch the jet of water from a water squirty bottle and she will get into the sink after I have washed up to play with the bubbles as they go down the plughole.
Mister likes to paw at/play with the water while I'm in the tub too! He's even brave enough to climb on me while I'm in there (the dry parts any way lol) and sniff around or play a little. I usually kick him out because he will try to drink the soapy bath water or dig his nails into my by accident: ouch!
Good to know he's not the only strange cat!
All mine with swat bathwater, sit on the tub while water runs, or watch me wash dishes. However, trying to bathe them is a different matter. They don't like bathes.
Yep, swipe at the stream of water from a running tap - drink from said tap too! - get as close as possible if I have a bath, sit at the edge of the shower if I shower and jump in straight after the water is off to paddle and lap at the water on the tiles. They also insist on a daily walk even if it is raining (lightly). Mine also get monthly baths - in the shower with the hand showerhead - although I can't say they like this, they just tolerate it.
Try putting some icecubes into their water bowl for some amusement!
Yeah, there are instances when they need a bath for their health (rolling in cement dust or car oil for instance!), so that's one reason we make a monthly bath-time...always want it to be a non-event in the event it really is needed!
The ice-cube thing is so funny! lots of shaking wet paws and snorting when they get so close the water almost goes up their nose!
In the summer, my cat Misty will sit on the edge of the paddling pool! One year she made a whole in it with her claws so we always try to get her off it ASAP. One time, she accidentally fell in! She scrambled and splashed until she got out!
My bombay monster cat used to play with water, loved ice cubes, and bath toys, would even paddle in a shallow bath and grab toys before pouncing out, but never stayed long... but my tortoiseshell although initially sort of curious (she used to sit on the edge of the bath) became fearful after I had to wash her rather urgently, i.e. before she washed herself, after she broke into the spare room through an open window and landed straight in a paint tin! Oh my, she did not like bathing!!!
...if you're decorating with cats around, remember its not just doors they might come through!
My kitten Casey likes water sometimes. His first night home he stood in his water bowl to drink out of it. He still does that sometimes and will also sometimes stand in my rock fountain to drink out of it. He also climbs on the dry parts of my when I take a bath. He does not like to get his top side wet though. We tried letting him drink water droplets coming off our hands while showering and he did not like it.
My RB cat Claude loved water. He would stand on the side of the tub and stick his head under the shower to drink the water. He would also sit on the side of the tub and drink warm water coming off your hand with the water soaking him in the process. Once he got soaked he wanted to be petted until he was dry. Claude would even order company he knew to give him showers. One of my friends would shower at my house for Claude when she was cat sitting. You could not go to the bathroom without Claude asking for a shower. I miss you baby and I hope you are getting unlimited showers now.
We got A kitten just the other day.. When I went to take a bath I took him with me cus we have dogs who play a little rough. So when I got in the tub he sat there and meowed. I picked him up and put him on the stack of towels next to the tub. He fell in. :sunk::doh3: I thought he would go crazy, but he just stood there. The water was up till his tummy. He looked as if didn't know what to do in the situation. And then he started drinking the water...:uuh: so I had to get out to dry him up, but luckily he isn't fussy about taking a bath!
