So I ran into a local convenience store today to pick up a few things.
The lady ahead of me in line knew the cashier pretty well and they were talking. When she left, he started to tell me this odd story. He claimed that how he knew this woman was because he use to figure skate with her daughter. He told me that they were World Champions for two years and after that he told the daughter that he had to quit. It was costing his parents $76K a year and costing her parents more since she not only danced, but did the solo thing.
He continued saying the daughter is now training 2 of the top figure skaters in the world and is paid $300 per one hour lesson.
All I could think was "If you were a World Champion TWICE...why are you working at my local convenience store?!"
Maybe there really isn't money in figure skating...
