I think those are really for the merchants selling them. It's illegal to sell matresses and some pillows 2nd-hand in many states (this applies to stores that stock them as a business, not the thrift store, for example, though I've had those tell me they no longer accept those items, as it's illegal for them to sell them used).

I also like reading product labels that are in foreign languages, to see if they really are speaking that language, and not just making it up (they do make up some stuff).

DH explained the plunger/power lines thing cause I wondered about that too. He says that some people could use the plunger in the sump pump and damage the wires/lines leading to the power lines. Then you have exposed electric lines which could cause a problem.
