Hi everyone! So last week I was on FB Marketplace looking for cat supplies to get ready while I was being screened for a deaf kitty that's for adoption here, when I see a listing for a pregnant 6 month old kitten!! The kitten was a stray she was feeding, trying to find someone to take in since she was pregnant. I immediately contacted the person knowing that it was very unlikely someone was going to come across the ad willing to take that on. She said the kitten had been pregnant for over a month (making me think that really she could be giving birth anytime in the next 1-2 weeks!). We made plans for me to pick up the kitten the next morning (Saturday), but I couldn't get ahold of her for the address. When I did hear from her, she said she had to urgently go out of town. So we made plans for the next morning (Sunday). As I'm getting ready to leave, she messages me that she can't find the cat! She says it's normal for her to disappear for 1-2 days when it's very cold out, which it was. Yesterday however was warm and we expected her to show. She shook the kibble bag outside and stayed outside for hours after work. She also has her family looking out for her. I'm very concerned Mama has found a nesting spot and is getting ready to/has already given birth. I check in with her 3 times a day, I'm so worried about Mama and her babies.
On the "getting ready" front, I have:
-A large square box (it's also tall, do I need to cut it shorter for Mom to jump in and out?)
-Puppy pads
-3 old towels
-KMR
-Kitten bottle set
Still need:
-Heating pad
-Digital kitchen scale
My apartment is only 1 bedroom and I watch children during the day. Is it okay to have her in my room? I got a gate with a cat door in it so Mom can come and go from the room as she pleases for now, then I will shut the door when she has her babies. There's a dresser in my closet but I can move it out so that she can have a more private space with her nest, food, water and litter box.
