Agreed, but there were so many other beauties in there. I just can't figure out this black cat thing at all. I thought Ginger was adorable, along with many others. The white kitty was beautiful. Just seems like the last few votes have all been black cats. Don't get me wrong, I love them, and have one now. I love the cat sprawled on a branch halfway up the tree ( and would love to know how she managed that, ) lol. I almost missed seeing her! A lot of beauties and cuties, so what am I missing here?

    It is a beautiful photograph and captures the colour and contrast really well in a difficult situation.   There are so many gorgeous and funny photographs in these competitions it can be very hard to pick favourites, and often I find myself setting some kind of style, or some specific qualities and then look through the photos again and again trying to stick to those rather than getting side tracked by any quick thoughts like 'cute kitten' or 'gray cat'.  Sometimes I have to make it not about the cats as much as possible and go for the lighting and composition which is what I did this month.   @ConiKat  sometimes you see a run of orange tabbies, or torties being voted for but I do belive it is coincidence.  We just all love cats!

I see, hadn't thought of that. I just thought we were going for " appealing", not photography per se.
If you are considering all that, then it must be doubly difficult to achieve.
