Pardon if this is a really dumb question, but: I am about to begin volunteering at a sanctuary for feral cats, some of whom have tested positive for Feline Leukemia and FIV; all have had rabies shots.
My question is: do I need to take any precautions so I don't transmit any diseases or illnesses (including URIs and UTIs) to my own previous cat, Ritz? Ritz had shots/vaccinations for rabies, leukemia boster and calicivirus booster in late February 2010. I do notice that whenever I am around my friend's cats, she sniffs me a lot.
Any other advice you can give me? I never had a cat before I adopted Ritz/Ritz adopted me in late January 2010, so this is all very new, exciting, rewarding to me. (And I ask myself all the time: why didn't I do this sooner)?
Thanks.
