I am so sad. My cat had four kittens. One died right after birth and three survived. Until today. Violet was very small and never really seemed to grow like the other two. I did not take her to the vet because I knew she would likely not survive and was probably just not as developed as her other sibs. The first one that died was VERY small. She was a cute little thing and seemed to be attached to me. The mother cat is very casual and did not mind the handling. I ended up having to supplement her nursing because she seemed to get pushed out a lot. So I did what I could. She would come to me when she saw me and would sit in my lap while I worked.
Yesterday I noticed she was less energetic. This morning I found her just laying down and when I picked her up, she was not breathing right. I washed her face and tried to feed her but she refused. So I wrapped her in a washcloth and kept her near me until at last she stopped breathing.
During the process I petted her and held her and told her she was loved and it was okay to go on. She cried a couple of times, but mainly slept. I rarely left her side. I either held her, petted her or kept her near me. I took her picture and even sang to her.
She finally passed peacefully. I wrapped her in the cloth and fixed a box. My husband buried her.
Please don't scold me for not having the mom fixed before. I really feel cruddy. I am making a vet appointment as soon as she weans them.
