Some of you may recall the story of Buster, DH's office cat who has been having a problem with his ear. It was bleeding; now it is filled with goop. Our regular vet had cauterized the area to try to stop the bleeding, but thought there may be a mass deep in the ear. He arranged for us to take him to a specialist for possible eardrum removal.
Buster was finally evaluated by the specialist yesterday. He could not see any masses in his ear, but was having a very hard time doing the exam because Buster was upset. The specialist thinks that it is a middle ear infection, which he says cannot be cleared with antibiotics. On Wednesday, he will put Buster under to clean, exam, and x-ray the ear. He will also evaluate the other ear at that time. I do worry about the risks associated with anesthesia, but there really aren't any other options. I really like the specialist, he was so nice, and that makes me feel a little better.
If you could spare some vibes for Buster, we would certainly appreciate it. We are hoping it is only a middle ear infection and that eardrum removal is not necessary.
