Hello I'm new here.
Third Vet gone to for my cat. First one very expensive long story short on that vet pushes stuff Jack up costs.
My cat had frequent diarrhea sine Feb.
All vets give me Flagyl pred and feed special diet.
This vet with now I told her I think his belly is swollen she said so it's just his intestines are thickened so so I believed her and start feeding special diet abdomen swelling is getting worse she finally agrees to x-ray and then no spell he's full of fluid I was right. Going over xray she's like oh there's nothing we can do could be fip or cancer or hear but nothing we can do..I'm thinking what why would I spend my time trying to find an answer and now you did an x-ray and not even offering to find the cause???I had to push her into doing test such as draw fluid from belly test for fip something come on!
I'm at my Wit's End here I'm not sure what to do at this point This is the third veterinarian gone to I had to push her to get fluid off of his belly and test for possible FIP coronavirus but anyone else has any suggestions?

The best test, even though it's $$$$, would be an endoscopy. Then they can see what's actually going on in there. I know, it's frustrating.

One of these vets may have been a specialist; not sure from your post. If not, try to see an internal medicine vet or one who specializes in gastroenterology. You may find one within driving distance of where you are. Often a specialist can save you money, even though it might be expensive, because they can get to the root of issues more quickly.

DID they end up drawing some of the fluid to test it? What were the results? Did they ever do blood work? Are there any other symptoms of anything wrong other than the diarrhea? Did the Flagyl, or Pred, or special diet help with the diarrhea?

Yes they drew fluid waiting on results, meds and special food has not stopped his loose stools and now I see he is not peeing as much I am going to take him ER if have to or vet first thing in morning. I am in big area with lots of vets around. He had blood work in Feb the vet I took him to did not offer much not even blood work I had to prompt her. I fee like not helping no one wants to hear a vet say nothing I can do how can she say that when she doesn't even know what is wrong? Uggh

None of the vets are specialist, I have been trying to find a vet I feel is going to help. I have one that is treating another cat with cardiomyopathy but he is so expensive but he calls you personally and even sends pictures. I will bring my cat Teddy to him at least he will help it actually cost me more money in long run looking for a least expensive vet.

Just want to say that if it turns out to be either FIP or cancer, that still doesn't necessarily mean there is nothing you can do. Now there is a pretty good treatment for FIP that has cured many cats, although it hasn't been approved yet and is still in clinical trials as far as I know. It IS available though, just not through any Vet. There are companies that are selling it on the internet and we have had members here who have done it and had success. And with cancer, cats do get chemo with less issues than humans.

With diarrhea I wouldn't expect him to pee as much, especially if it's watery diarrhea, since that can cause dehydration.

I hope you can get to the bottom of this quickly. Let us know what you discover.
