I'm in northeastern Ohio. The cost of living here varies greatly, from what I can see (I'm originally from northern New Jersey). These costs are based on what I pay here in Ohio (Cleveland area). Keep in mind that I consult with more than one vet -- these costs are from the vet I use most regularly (the other is a holistic, naturopath).
Office Visit: $34.95
Recheck: $29.50
FVRCP Vaccine: $16.95
Rabies Vaccine: $16.95
(I don't know what the Leukemia vaccine costs as I opt out of it.)
Fecal Exam: $17.50
FeLV/FIV Combo Snap Test: $34.50
Neuter (with pre-anesthesia bloodwork): $125.00
Spay (with pre-anesthesia bloodwork): $175.00
Medication fees are so varied that it would be impossible to list, but they are very reasonable compared to other vet offices in the local area.
Dentals vary depending on the cat's age, health status, and what needs to be performed. For senior cats, the cost includes pre-anesthesia bloodwork, but for younger cats, the fee is additional.
And, here are some other fees that I have recently come across:
Anal Sac Expression: $13.95
Sanitary Shave: $10.50
Ear Swab and Microscopic Exam: $13.95
Occular Exam and Eye Stain: $22.50
Biologic Waste Disposal: $3.00
I know there are plenty of other fees, but I can't seem to think of anything else at this point. And, if I were to give a list of my other vet's costs, they would be completely different. I've found that vet fees vary greatly -- even from town to town. But, this should give you a good idea on what the base costs are here in northeast Ohio.
And, thank you. I appreciate this thread and everyone who has responded. It's been quite an interesting read.
