Vet "doesn't treat anemia" ????

Ok I'm asking for a friend as I am puzzled too.   Her cat recently had dental surgery.  The cat is a senior with kidney disease and anemia.  My friend is wondering why the vet didn't give her an iron shot.  The vet also told her "we don't treat anemia" here.

I think something was probably misconstrued in the communication between owner and vet.  Dental procedures requiring anesthesia would not have been performed on an anemic cat, at least if it was a chronic severe condition.  The anemia needs to be differentiated from other causes if it is not strictly related to the renal disease.

Do you think you can ask your friend to contact her Vet for an explanation? just say she is concerned about something and wanted some help to understand it....
