Hi all!

Taking my kitty to a vet dermatologist next week and I was wondering if anyone has done this and how your visit went? I hope to get to the root of my boys head shaking.

I can only speak from personal experience and it was our dog, not cat, who saw a veterinary dermatology specialist but he saved our dog's life in more ways than one. The good thing is if we ever had to bring our cat there we would know who to see and trust them. Best of luck, I hope you have the same experience. Please keep us posted. :goodluck:

I am a huge believer in accessing specialists when you need them. I have never had to take a pet to a derm, but have used other specialists and they always got to the root of the problem and had a solution much more quickly than a regular vet would have.
Make a list of questions and concerns and take it with you; read it off if anything is not answered initially.

mrw5641 mrw5641 , I tried looking for previous posts about your guy and don't find too much, just a couple posts about him being on specialized diets and apparently that is not solving the problem of head shaking. My question to you is, have they done a deep dive into his ears. Head shaking is normally a sign of an ear issue rather than food. Yes, your boy may also have food allergies, but it's possible he also has an ear infection that is causing this and it's not related to his food at all. Just saying. AND, some ear infection are very deep in the canal and not visible upon first glance. You might just ask about this.
