Hey Everyone,
This evening a kitten, my guess is 8 weeks old, was found outside my barn hiding under something, at first we thought he was dead but he did make slight movements when we started to move him. He is in VERY rough shape, he is horribly skinny , he did soil himself and sadly there was a small amount of red blood in his stool this was a very small/runny amount of stool, his bum does not look right at all, and he does seem to be leaking from his rear a bit, a clear mucasy fluid? we have brought him to the house and given him some water that had kitten kibble soaking in it with a straw, his gums are pale and his feet are cold so we set up a heating pad underneath him. he is extremley listless, not much eye movement, he breaths and swallows and occasionally rolls his head, after the fluid he started to move a bit more and even made a few faint noises. is there anything else I can do for this little soul? I know chances are very low that he will survive the night but I want to do everything I can. I am also worried this is a contagious illness rather than injury (as there are no visible signs of trauma other then maybe the small amount of blood in his stool) because I also have 3, 5 week old kittens in the house that were found under a cottage near by, we have kept them seperate in another part of the house, are very diligent about washing hands and even changing clothes to avoid possible contaminaton.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thank you
