How would you describe a cat that's anxious? Maybe I just don't know what to look for.

I think you would know it if you saw it. My cat is scared of people and if anybody comes over, he runs and hides under the bed and won't come out until the people leave. If people don't leave, he will sit under the bed for days.
He also runs away from me. He is also scared of loud noises, freaks out when I turn on a vacuum cleaner, etc.
