Do you go to them?
Our library just had their annual used book sale. One bag of books for $15, with some of the newer books at about $3.00. I like to go to scout out cookbooks and novels by some of my favorite authors. And check out new authors I might be interested in reading. I didn't make it this year because of my knee surgery. People donate their books to the library throughout the year. They also have CDs, DVDs, and the like for sale. This time, our library made almost $30,000, which goes to help keep it open on Sundays and to buying new books and such. With budget cuts in the state and local governments throughout, the book sale is a great help.
But there is a huge book sale coming up this weekend, sponsored by our local paper. I think at last count, there are supposed to be about 60,000 - 70,000 books at this year's sale. One of my work GFs is coming to pick me up and we're going to meet some other GFs at a local restaurant for breakfast on Saturday morning. Then we'll all head over to the sale. I'm working on composing a list of authors I might be interested in checking out. And, of course, the cookbook sections. I never know what I'm going to find and it's almost like a treasure hunt for me.
