Poor Millie is still having bad luck =( She had a stomach bug about 2 weeks ago, and that finally resolved, but now she has a pretty bad upper respiratory infection. I took her to the vet the evening of 12/30 and they said she had a fever and gave her Convenia (wish I googled that before I said “okay go ahead!”) and fluids. She’s sneezing less but I think that’s actually a bad thing because the mucus is just kinda stuck. She’s started shaking her head a lot in the past 24 hours too (I’m running two humidifiers in the house and at night I close her in the bedroom with me with both humidifiers running.) Right now she’s at rest and I’m counting 28 breaths per minute.
She’s eating a little, but prefers dry food (WHY?!?!) and has not had any water at all since before I took her to the vet. I know the subQ fluids they gave probably held her over for yesterday, but she only peed a tiny bit this morning (normally has a BIG morning pee) and I think her gums look pale. I got her to eat maybe 1/4 of one of those Sheba perfect portion things this morning. I’ve tried boiling chicken, adding water to the Sheba wet food, offering tuna water, and she’s turned up her nose at all those items. She’s normally great about drinking water. And she’s always been a picky eater.
I feel myself rambling here, sorry! I’m just worried and feel awful for her and feel helpless.
At what point would you guys be concerned, and what interventions would you take? My vet is closed today (and only open half a day tand the closest emergency vet is an hour away.
