A few months ago, there was a news artile (May 26, 2001 Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel) on the homepage about a Lauderhill, FL police officer who pepper-sprayed a sick cat outside a Chili's restaurant. The cat was treated at the vet and required a 3-day stay. An article in the September 8 issue of the Sun Sentinel updates the story. The cat was named Chili Pepper. She is now ok and available for adoption! The Broward Co. State Attorney's Office has charged the officer with misdemeanor cruelty to animals which has a maximum of 1 year in jail and $5000 fine. I'm going to work on finding out who the state attorney handling the case is and how to contact him/her. If you're interested in contacting the state attorney in support of Chili Pepper, please send me an e-mail and I'll get you the contact person and phone/fax/e-mail ASAP.
