This past Sunday, I noticed that our cat had something on the top of his head. I thought at first perhaps it was a knot of fur. He's a short hair, but somewhat longer fur than most short hairs, so he does occasionally get those. We had just cleaned the house so decided to wait to brush him out.
Yesterday, I felt it again and decided I'd better give him a good brushing. Luckily, he's a good sport about that, to the point of flumping down and nearly drooling while I brush him lol. At some point, I decided to put him in my lap to have a look at what was on his head; he quietly growled at me as I touched it. It was then I noticed it was actually a cut on the top of his skull.
How he got this is beyond me. He's an indoor solo cat. And lazy as can be. He gets into nothing around our home to cause him trouble. there aren't any sharp edges to any furniture.
Could he have done this to himself? Have any ideas what may have caused this such as diseases or pests that I should look for? He's never even had so much as a flea since we've had him.
It doesn't appear to be infected at all - just some of the fur missing, I can see his skin but you don't notice it looking at him - you really need to look for it. I guess what I felt was it scabbing over already. And when I brushed over it that didn't appear to bother him, it was just when I touched it with my hands but, that could have just been him being cranky and voicing his displeasure for the moment
Thanks!
