My Coco is on Baytril right now for her bladder infection and Cleo is on Cefa Drops for her Uri.

You're terrified b/c you love him, and you fear the unknown - like any good meowmy. I feel your anguish: I fear losing my Maverick, tooOriginally Posted by kittens&mittens
I don't know why I even started on the FIP jag...I wouldn't even have thought of it if I hadn't been googling Chaplin's main symptom (a high fever). I worked at an animal shelter for 8 years, and many, many cats died of FIP there. I'm just so terrified of losing Chaplin, I've been crying all night. I wasn't even this sad when he had a urinary blockage and the vet gave him only a slim chance of living! Because he had a definite illness, then, I felt more comfort in the certainty. Right now, I just feel lost and very alone.
I would think an infection of some sort would show up, but I don't know.Originally Posted by kittens&mittens

Not necessarily. FIP isn't something that can be accurately diagnosed - not until after the cat's death, anyway. If he had FIP, would the blood work show anything?
I'd be going totally bonkers too right now if I had to leave Maverick at the vet's.I just feel so helpless right now, and I wish he weren't all alone at the vet's. I don't know why I'm crying as though I've already lost him. It's really unnerving to feel this way. But I'm really, really glad I found you guys. I would go totally insane, otherwise.
Geronimo & Winchester were 'diagnosed' with the dry form of FIP when they were both about 2 years old. A friend of mine had a cat that was also diagnosed with the dry form when the cat was older (around 12 I think). Her cat was treated and lived to be 16. I think cats are more susceptable to contracting FIP when they're really young and their immune systems aren't fully developed yet, or when they're older and their immune systems are weaker.Originally Posted by ut0pia
And by the way I thought FIP happens in younger kittens, and they are usually safe by 6 months...
maybe that's a sign you should step away from the research, at least for now.Originally Posted by kittens&mittens
Frankly, I don't know what any of this means. I've always been a big believer in intuition and 'signs,' but until I got on the Internet, I wasn't near as devastated as I am now.
