Well I posted about 3 weeks ago that my cat Katie had a uti. She is doing great now and goes in on Friday for her recheck UA. Well now tonight I got home after going out to dinner and while I was preparing the puppy and cats dinner I noticed Oscar going in the litter box a little too frequently. Sure enough I checked and there were several good clumps but then 5 small dime sized clumps. I checked his rear and no blood, but I took him to the e vet anyways. He's acting completely normal otherwise, in fact he wanted to eat dinner before we left.
Well the vet checked him and he looks great. His bladder was too tiny to get a sample from though. She used the ultra sound and noticed the bladder wall is slightly thickened and possibly inflamed. There was some debris noticed but it didn't look like stones but possibly WBCs due to inflammation or sludge. He was caught very early she said. We decided to treat proactively as my other kitty did have a bacterial infection. He is on clavamox and a urethral antispasmodic. They also gave me buprenex if needed. Oh and they gave some sq fluids to try and flush the bladder out.
So far he seems fine. He wanted to play with his feather toy when he got home and he finished dinner and drank some water. He went to the litter box and left a normal clump as well.
I am so frustrated and worried. I know the cats are slightly stressed because of the new puppy. Well we got the puppy a month and a half ago. We are teaching the puppy to leave the cats alone, which he does. He never bothers Katie but Oscar instigates play but batting at the puppy and running away. This is how he used to play with our old dog and they got aling great. I think we aren't going to allow any play at least till this is all resolved.
I'm trying everything to keep the cats stress free. They have plenty of high perches. Several water dishes and litterbox locations as well. I had feliway before getting the puppy but never noticed a difference but I ordered some refills on amazon tonight. I also ordered some bachs rescue remedy, and uti support supplements the vet recommended. The cats are on a 75 percent canned diet with water added to the canned food. They also get a small amount of dry because they were kibble junkies and I am currently trying to break their habit. They are already stressed right now so I don't want to add more stress by going kibble free yet. I don't know what else I can do. I am so worried Oscar will block, but the vet said we caught it early. Doesn't mean it can't still happen though. I thought we were in the clear and now this:-(
