Oh dear! How are things today?

You need to weigh the kittens daily to make sure all are gaining 6-10 grams each per day.

Are both moms producing milk now?

If not, are you supplementing with kitten formula? Using a syringe is often easier than the bottle initially.

Eight kittens is a lot for one mom. I hope the other mom is nursing now.

Sorry for the delay! I totally freaked out and went straight to the store for replacement milk and a bottle. Then I calmed down and decided to monitor them very closely for the evening before I did any kind of separation. I knew the best possible outcome was to have TWO mommas nursing that many babies! I gave them a kiddie pool with nice, clean blankets hoping the bigger space would help keep them from squishing any babies. They weren't happy with the new "nest" at first, but they seem to have accepted it now. It took time, but it seems like Millie has learned to move when a squished kitten stsrts crying! She is nursing the babies, but I never see more than 2 or 3 with her. She's letting Callie do most of the work. I'm glad she is relieving some of the burden from Callie though. All babies seem to be thriving. I can tell they've grown already in just two days! Thanks for all your help... and of course... baby pictures!

Glad everyone has settled in!

Are you weighing the babies daily?
