When should I transition Milo from his kitten diet to his adult diet? The first time I took him to a vet since I got him, they were terrible and didn't even age him right. Last week I got the opportunity to take him to my hometown to see a vet I trusted. She said he was 8 months old, which is much older than the 5-6 months he'd be at now if I trusted the previous vet. The vet in my hometown showed me his teeth and how to get accurate aging results, yadee yada...
Anyway, here is where the question is. Currently I feed Milo ~5.5 oz of wet food, divided into portions that I feed 3 times a day. So I guess he gets around 1.9-2.0 oz per meal. Because I feed him grain-free wet, I supplement his protein and fat needs by feeding him 1/3-1/2 cup of dry food over 24 hours, since he is an active cat still in the growing stage.
I'm guessing that in about two weeks I'm going to run out of dry food. Should I purchase more? I plan for Milo's adult diet to be completely wet. I'm wondering if I should wait until he definitely reaches the 1 year mark to take the dry away. When I do take it away, should I increase the wet portions slightly?
[Notes to think about: He currently weighs 6 lbs, guessing that he'll reach about 10 lbs in adulthood. He is an intact male, but will be neutered around mid-December.]
