trim cat fur?

Hey all
Question....i have a long haires cat named cleo (domestic long hair) her hair is getting quite long...should we get her groomed and trimmed? She isnt knotted at all but i thought it would be better for her?

Is she showing signs of distress because of the summer heat? That would be a good reason to get her a lion cut.

If not, does she allow you to brush her, and are you able and willing to brush her daily? If the answers to both of those questions are "Yes," then she doesn't need a hair cut. If the answer to either one is "No," then it's better to get a lion cut for her so she won't get matts.

I agree with leaving it if the cat seems fine and there is no matting. However, if you do get a lion-cut, be prepared for a lot of laughs. Poor Tippi looked so funny after hers, but she really got to like it. If nothing else she could feel me pet her. It seems to me the hair never seems to look the same after it is cut and grows back, though.
