It might be worth a try to contact Best Friends Animal Society. They run the largest no-kill shelter in the US. Though they're located in Utah, they used to maintain a national directory of people/organizations who rescue or otherwise help cats and other animals. They may have some suggestions for you since they've done lots of cross country rescues with the help of volunteers.

Well, I did the uship thing and have gotten a bid. Someone is willing to bring Smokey Bear up here on Wednesday if I can have $175 to pay them. I'm not sure if I can come up with it that fast but please send vibes that I'm able to!
