Ever since we got our cat we have had problems with her stool and diet. She was 5 months when we got her and shortly after she started throwing up a lot with diarrhea. We took her to the vet and dewormed her, and it got rid of the vomiting and diarrhea. However, her stool is still soft all the time. I also found out by trial and error that she has food allergys. Although her stool is always soft, it will turn to diarrhea if she eats anything other than chicken or turkey based wet food. I just cant get it to solidify. Right now she is about 8 to 9 months old and still very small, maybe 6 to 7 pounds, and I feed her anywhere from 3 to 4 cans of wet food a day (3 oz cans), some days maybe more if she eats the other cats food. Is that too much for her and causing the soft stool? And if it is what can I do, because she is always hungry. Usually after i feed her a full can, an hour or two later when i go to the kitchen she is meowing for more.
Right now I feed her and the other 2 cats purina pro plan, but she only gets the chicken and turkey. There are probably 6 or 7 different types of this brand that I feed her that I rotate. Turkey and rice, turkey and vegetable, chicken and rice, chicken and vegetables, and so on. No pasta as that also upsets her stomach. Is that too much variety for her and need to stick to a few?
Another thing Ive been trying to do is get her on dry food, but she will not touch it. I have tried so many different brands but she wont budge. Ive tried putting a small amount in her wet food and she either will eat around it, or just not eat it at all and ask for something else. This is really starting to become a problem now because when she goes to the bathroom, number 2, and its soft she will either step in it or get some on and around her you know what then brings it into and all over the house.
