How do you figure? It's surgery performed by a doctor who is as educated as the doctor you see yourself.

If I were to have a hysterectomy, I'd pay thousands of dollars for the surgery and associated costs. Why should I feel ripped off when I have to pay $200 USD for my cat to be spayed when the doctor who is operating on her uses the same equipment and has the same amount of education as the doctor who operated on me?

I'm obviously all for low-cost services, but it is absolutely not unreasonable for a vet in private practice to charge $100+ for surgery of any kind. Around here males are around $125-175 and females are $150-250, including anesthesia, pain medication, and a health exam. Considering the cost of the basic supplies as well as the cost of the vet's and support staff's time, this is not at all unreasonable.
