Hello fellow cat lovers...
Through out all my life I've been rescuing and adopting / finding homes for cats and kittens I've found abandoned in the streets. It makes me angry and sick inside beyond what I can describe when it's humans fault.
Two days ago this 7 or 8 month old calico female was wandering around my mother in law's front yard. She doesn't like cats, neither does anyone else in her family except my wife and she is a convert, that is, I converted her with the help of my family's cats and our first cat Rausa who deserves an entire thread all for herself.
My wife went to see her mom yesterday and when she saw the cat she went around the neighborhood enquiring who was the owner. Of course, no one would admit being the one or wanting to adopt the cat so she left it in the front yard of a house she knows has many cats. Today the cat appeared again in her mom´s front yard and seemingly very hungry and thirsty.
When my wife saw her again she told me about the cat (she probably hesitated a lot because she knew what would come) so I immediately went with her and my 6 year old kid to her mom´s house for the cat, braving a monster traffic jam and on the return trip my soft-top Jeep started to overheat badly (it never had done that before) overstressing the moment as we had the strange cat in the car, why did it have to do that exactly today??!!
The cat, a classic calico, was never hostile towards me, she let me catch her easily. She is no stranger to human contact. She looks like she's in good health and after we bathed her we found only one flea (???). She cooperated completely, (warm water obviously) and didn't even try to escape.
I know she very probably isn't spaded so I'll be phoning my Vet tomorrow. She already has her adult teeth.
The problem is that I already have two cats, one BIG male and another female. I don´t know if they will accept her but after a brief introduction and a few insults from either side, things appear to be going better that what I expected.
Another problem is that three are not too many cats for me but perhaps they are for my wife. We are supposed to look for a house for her but to tell you the truth, I don't think anybody will take her in. And I would never give her up unless I knew it was a good house, so although I wouldn't say this to my wife I think the new cat will stay for good.
I hope everything turns out OK
Thanks for reading me.
The photos were taken today just a while ago and right after we bathed her. (I don´t usually bathe my cats, unless they are new ones)
