I am helping 2 other cat-lovers where I live to start a TNR
I am really excited and looking forward to getting started.........this will be the 1st one in the area !!
So we are hoping for good results, as we know of other areas that have ferals !
I´ve read all the links, advice etc here and its been very, very helpful to get an understanding of whats involved.
This is where we are up to..............
It is a small colony of ferals - about 9 (now) - they are fairly socialised, as the colony is on a housing development and the cats see & interact with humans fairly regularly. We have even managed to get 2 re-homed in the past !
Traps sourced and in transit from the UK - one advisor may come to Spain to talk with our vet (not yet selected) about surgery - here in Spain they do full removal of female reproductive organs, this usually means a large wound (about 4in) which of course can be a major problem for recovery of ferals ! Hopefully the advisor can persuede about ovary removal only.
Local vets contacted re: discounted fees for operations - struggling with this one a bit.
Local free-paper contacted about doing a report for us !
Fund rasing activities discussed - one planned !
We are going to do a door-to-door visit to help with funds, so I am looking forward to that - little worried about the non-cat lovers but hopefully we can explain to them that this is about keeping the numbers down and therefore its got to be better for all involved !! I am sure some wont even talk to us, but well I´ll be ready for that and will just move on !
Fingers Crossed !!
